About

Founded in 2009 by Dr. Edgar Chavez, UCHC is a 501c3 non-profit and a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) located in central Los Angeles, one of the most diverse and impoverished areas in the city.

UCHC also receives HHS (U.S. Department of Health & Human Services) funding and has Federal Public Health Service (PHS) deemed status with respect to certain health or health-related claims, including medical malpractice claims, for itself and its covered individuals.

The UCHC service delivery model provides comprehensive services across all life cycles, with a focus on prevention and empowerment of its patients to take charge of their health and lead healthier lifestyles.  All services are provided either directly, through contract, or through documented cooperative arrangements.

Our mission: To provide quality and accessible healthcare to underserved communities and to provide a patient- centered model of care to empower communities towards wellness.
